how to cook Jalapeno Cheeseburgers
Serves: 4
Time: 15-17 minutes
(10 minutes prep/preheat time, 5-7 minutes cook time)
Summer
isn’t summer without cheeseburgers. These homemade patties are so easy and get
a kick from a jalapeno pepper and spices like cumin and red pepper flakes. You
don’t even need to add eggs or breadcrumbs - the meat stays together on its
own. Serve without buns, and instead choose toppings like tomato and sliced
onions.
Cooking Note: Heating your grill till it’s smokin’ hot ensures
your burger gets a really nice crust. If possible, however, you want to lower
the heat once that crust forms so it doesn’t get too hot. On a grill, set up a
direct heat zone and indirect heat zone.
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
4 slices sharp cheddar
cheese
4 tomato slices
4 onion slices
1 seeded + chopped
jalapeno pepper
½teaspoon
ground garlic
½teaspoon
cumin
½+ teaspoon red pepper
flakes Salt and pepper
Directions:
1.In a
bowl, mix the ground beef, jalapeno, garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, and salt
and pepper. You can add more or less red pepper flakes depending on your
tastes.
2.Heat a skillet or grill until it’s very hot.
3.Form
four burger patties with the meat and set on your grill pan.
4.It’ll
take about 5-7 minutes per side, with 5 minutes resulting
in medium- rare burgers.
5.If you want to cook your
onion slices, lay them in the skillet and let them cook in the meat juices and
fat until they reach your desired texture.
6.Serve burgers with onion, tomato, and cheese
slices!
